The project initiated by the Chair for Databases and Information Systems at the University of Augsburg in cooperation with Alpstein Tourismus GmbH & Co. KG was funded by the Federal Ministry of Economy and Technology. PeToMoTo led to the development of a context-aware personalized recommendation extension to an existing search functionality of a commercial outdoor activity website. Based on personal preferences, user roles, and an extensive context model, hiking tours are recommended to users of the website.
