Interactive Toolbox for Spatial-Textual Preference Queries

Aug 2013

The Interactive Toolbox is a web-based HTML5 demo application that was presented at SSTD 2013 in Munich. The demo illustrates how the Preference SQL System can be successfully implemented in a mashup scenario with open spatial-textual data. The demo covers a mobile application scenario for the San Francisco area based on Preference SQL that allows users to intuitively express spatial keyword queries on multiple data relations. Search can further be extended towards temporal, categorical, and numerical attributes. The application assists in a flexible composition of complex Preference SQL queries which are evaluated using a Best-Matches-Only query model. Spatial relevance is defined by an asymmetric routing distance supporting complex geometries, textual relevance is determined using the Apache Lucene library. The demo provides a fully flexible toolbox for extended spatial-textual queries in non-metric spaces.
